The Liberal Democrats select Town Mayor, Steve Lambert for the General Election

Aylesbury Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce the current Aylesbury Town Mayor, Steve Lambert as their candidate for the upcoming General Election.

Having lived in Aylesbury for over 23 years, Steve has 20 years of experience as a local councillor and is the current Mayor of Aylesbury. As a result, Steve has first-hand experience of why Aylesbury needs investment, change, and an MP who truly represents our area.

A passionate advocate for our community, Steve has served as a Trustee of Youth Concern and a board member of Fairfax Housing Trust, as well as a lead member of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue. 

Speaking after his selection Steve said, “For too many years Aylesbury and our surrounding villages have been poorly served by Tory MPs. 

You only have to look at the current Tory MP voting record and the unwavering support of Boris Johnson until seconds before Boris resigned. He then backed Liz Truss – gaining a gong as a result. None of which has served our residents at all well.

It is time for a change and with new boundaries and Lib Dem councillors at every level, we are truly working hard on behalf of all our residents. With Labour declaring themselves out of the race, a Lib Dem MP for our area is in our grasp - just like in neighbouring Chesham and Amersham.

As our MP I will strive hard to make sure no one is left without a voice, support or help to be authentically themselves and to thrive.”

The Lib Dem success in the Parliamentary By-Election in Chesham & Amersham in 2021 shows that the Liberal Democrats are the clear challengers to the Tory status quo.

Steve added “I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent the Liberal Democrats in the upcoming General Election for the new Aylesbury constituency.

Residents are tired of Conservative MPs and Tory Councillors taking them for granted for too long. Instead of standing up for their residents, the Tories have prioritised their party above the town. 

I have always been passionate about Aylesbury as my many years of community work, be it working with local charities or residents’ groups demonstrates”.

With Labour declaring Aylesbury as a Non-Battleground seat for them, Steve Lambert will be the candidate to support to beat Conservatives and help end this appalling Conservative Government.
