Rise of 44% in four-week waits for GP appointments last year when compared to 2022.
Aylesbury Liberal Democrats have criticised the Conservative Government for letting the community down with their neglect of local health services.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Aylesbury, Steve Lambert, is calling for urgent action to reduce GP appointment times, so that patients can see a GP within seven days, or 24 hours if in urgent need. It would be achieved by increasing the number of GPs and increasing the number of nurses and pharmacists fully qualified to prescribe day to day medicines.
One case reported to us is Barbara of Bierton who tried to get an urgent GP appointment for 3 weeks before receiving the appointment she needed. She is now receiving the priority treatment she needs from our wonderful hospitals who themselves are being stretched to provide the services to all. The NHS have been let down by the Conservative Government.
Steve said "There are major issues facing the NHS today, which we must tackle head on. The Liberal Democrats are committed to ensuring everyone gets the care and treatment they need. It's not acceptable that you can't get an appointment with your GP. That's why the Lib Dems are calling for a fair deal for our Health as the corner stone of our General Election campaign".
The Liberal Democrat Fair Deal for Health includes: Accessible GP Service. Ensuring everyone can see their GP within seven days, investing in the training, recruitment and retention of GPs. Overhauling the NHS Dentistry. Boosting Cancer Survival Rate. Healthcare Workforce Strengthening .Tackling the Ambulance Crisis, Fixing the Social Care Crisis.
