Conservative Failures continue to pile up

8 Apr 2025

Martin Tett and his cabinet are selling public assets to balance the budget. They are selling off Council owned buildings to make quick money, with no long term investment strategy or insight into the future needs of the Council.

Bucks Sports and Social Club was closed to the public who used this space daily for recreational exercise, sports and general use. The council years later then fenced it off at a considerable cost to the public, submitted a planning application on the land which they approved and have now sold the land to developers to cash in despite opposition from the Lib Dems, local residents and the Parish Councils. It even conflicted with the Stoke Mandeville Local Plan!

Gala Bingo Hall is being demolished for a walkway between the High Street and The Exchange. Residents were told that the use of this land was for a Music Space with mini popup retail units but now they have choose to approve a 10 year plan for a path and a few extra car parking spaces using YOUR money, and not asking YOUR opinion. There was no costing done to revitalise the building - we say it would have made a great music venue, bringing residents and communities back together.

The County Hall Building has already been sold to Developers. This building has now been converted to flats and not a single social/affordable home is allocated, because the Council claim there is not enough profit to be made!

The Walton Street Tower is also a target to be sold off to make way for more flats
