Broken Promises & Broken Roads

Local residents are voicing strong concerns over the deteriorating condition of roads and paths, highlighting safety risks posed by large potholes and broken surfaces for motorists, cyclists, elderly and disabled people.
Bucks Council are using one of the most expensive contractors in the Country while the cost to to bring the roads up to standard is nearing £500 million. This is not value for money, and the LibDems believe the council should prioritise more cost effective road maintenance, using innovative technologies already tried and tested in other council areas.
Cllr Peter Cooper, Deputy Leader of the Lib Dems at Bucks Council says:
“Having been a Councillor since 1999, the Conservatives in Bucks have not invested historically in highways maintenance, gulley cleaning, road sweeping, drain clearance and keeping our streams cleared of litter. This has led to severe flooding in Aylesbury which deteriorates our roads further.”
The Liberal Democrats manifesto promises progress on road maintenance and public transport solutions, particularly in the rural areas.
