Today, Friday 28th March, Aylesbury Liberal Democrats handed in nomination papers for a full slate of candidates to contest all the wards in Aylesbury up for election on Buckinghamshire Council elections on Thursday 1st May.

Councillor Susan Morgan, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Buckinghamshire Council, says;

"The May 1st elections are a chance for change after years of Conservative rule that often ignored community needs. The Labour Party's policies have also raised concerns about their impact on vulnerable groups. The Liberal Democrats offer a better approach focused on the community.

"I am excited to introduce our team of candidates who are dedicated to serving as Community Champions. They will listen to residents and prioritise Aylesbury's best interests."

Cllr Richard Lloyd, Liberal Democrat Leader on Aylesbury Town Council added: “At the last elections for Buckingshamshire and Town Councils in 2021, 33 Liberal Democrat councillors were elected to 19 Conservatives. With Labour and the Greens having no unitary or town council wins in Aylesbury. The Liberal Democrat run town council has gone on to save three community centres, the Railway Club and brought football back to Bowler’s Field alongside the free events we’re already well known for.

“This May across Aylesbury it’s a clear choice between the Conservatives or positive change with the Liberal Democrats.”

The last time Buckinghamshire Unitary and Aylesbury Town Council elections took place in 2021 33 Liberal Democrats were elected at either Town or Unitary Council Level in the wards and divisions within the Aylesbury Constituency. The same year (2021) only 19 Conservatives were elected at either unitary or Town level. There are no Labour or Green Councillors in Aylesbury.
