Election Process
Article 6.3:
"No person may be elected to hold more than one office or may be elected to be both an officer and an ordinary member. Elections for officers shall be counted in the order listed in Section 5.1 and for ordinary members after officers. Any votes cast for candidates already elected to office shall be transferred according to the voters’ subsequent preferences."
In the event of a contested election, Candidates should be prepared to submit a short 1 page introduction or manifesto that includes their name, the role they apply for, contact details as well as reasons for standing and reasons to vote for them.
The roles will be elected in this order and in accordance with article 5.1 in the local party constitution:
- Chair;
- Vice-Chair
- Treasurer;
- Secretary;
- Elections Officer;
- Membership Development Officer;
- Diversity Officer
- Data Officer
- 6 ordinary members
For any contested positions, a vote of all paid-up members as per the 25th of October (The date the AGM notice was issued) will be conducted using single-transferable-vote.
If a ballot is required, voting is expected to open on the 27th of November at 9am and close on the 11th of December at 7pm (Federal rules apply. Minimum 14 days.)
In accordance with the constitution, the ballot will be electronic. The detailed election process will be specified in the election notice letter that will arrive by email and post.
If you want a paper ballot, you will need to request one from the Returning officer (details below) and ensure that it is returned to him before 7pm on the 11th of December.
